  • The City of Prairie Village asks court to decide whether petitions comply with state law.
  • The City of Prairie Village hires a law firm to sue citizens and organizations of Prairie Village.
  • After arguments, the District Court Judged ruled that the petition, calling to adopt a mayor-council-manager form of government, does comply with the law.
  • Attorneys representing the City of Prairie Village complained and filed briefs, delaying the judgement to the point that the Johnson County Election Commission declared that time to include petitions on the November 7 ballot had passed.

Below are the current, available invoices paid by the City of Prairie Village to attorneys, in the City's successful efforts to keep three petitions, signed and presented by residents of Prairie Village, off the November 7 ballot. These three invoices total $93,136.20. More invoices to come.....
